My car is a 1971 Camaro that I bought in the fall of 2009. The interior was wworn and needed new uphostery on the front seats, the dash pad was warped past useability, it needed work. I bought new uphostery from Classic Ind and borrowed a set of hog ring pliers and recovered the seats myself. The engine was the original 307 which I replaced with a 350 ci, using RHS heads, Edelbrock air gap, and numerous other high performance parts. I buiolt it myself. It puts out right at 435 HP according to Comp Cams. I also installed subframe connectors, replaced the front springs with lowering ones, replaced bushins in the suspension, u joints, removed various pieces of chrome to make the look mine, and did all of this myself over the winter. The body needed repair on both front corners. I did the pounding, filling, and smoothing. I did all the welding, grinding and smoothing. The car's paint was ok, but by the time I tried to blend in my repairs, it didn't look good at all. I found a guy who occasionaly paints cars on the side. He only does about 8 per year max. Great guy. Doesn't have a paint booth, just a shop building. I worked with him doing the prep work, which I found I wasn't really great at, and he finished it and shot the paint. He did a great job. I think he liked the car and made it his also. Thanks to my wife for giving me up for the winter.
