I am a high school student who funded this restoration project almost entirely by myself. The car is a 1974 Ford Gran Torino that was originally brown with a black landau top, and a beige interior. I bough the car in November of 2008, drove it home from Winnipeg Canada and back to Chicago the day after thanksgiving. I did all of the bodywork and interior over the winter in a portable carport tent I bought from the local hardware store. I completed the body, paint and interior in July of 2009, then started working on the engine in the fall. All the bodywork I completed for the most part by myself, the only body work I did not do was the red paint, I had that done at a shop. The white stripe however I drew freehand the masked and sprayed on. As for the interior I was able to reuse most of the original vinyl thanks to Duplicolor’s Vinyl spray paint, I did however replace the carpet, front seat, and headliner. The car originally came with a 302/FMX combination for the drive train which I replaced with a 400/C6 out of a 77’ Lincoln Mark V, leaving the crankshaft as the only stock part. The engine specs are as follows: -.030 Over -Aftermarket Aluminum Heads -Aluminum Water Pump -Aluminum Intake Manifold -Holley Carb -Comp Cams Performance Cam -Chrome Oil Pan -Chrome Valve Covers -Mallory Distributor -Igniter Flamethrower II Coil -Edelbrock Air Cleaner -Rebuilt C6 Transmission
